CHANGES TO MOT TEST in Northern Ireland
A summary of changes are as follows:
- Continuity of tow bar 13 pin electric socket.
Condition check on other trailer sockets. - Increase in braking efficiency to 58% for cars first used after 31 December 2011
- Inappropriate brake system repairs or modifications
- Defective ESC components
- Catalytic converter missing
- Steering/suspension joint dust covers
- Inappropriate steering repairs or modifications
- Steering lock stops
- Steering box oil leakage
- Inappropriate suspension repairs or modifications
- Headlamp cleaning and self-levelling device if high-intensity discharge (HD) lamps are fitted
- Power steering oil level
- Damaged or corroded power steering pipes or hose
- Hazard warning lights, switch and tell-tale
- Main beam warning light
- Steering lock mechanism
- Illumination of malfunction indicator light (MIL) for electronic power steering, electronic stability control, electronic park brake control, brake fluid warning lamp, tyre pressure monitoring system and air bag/pre-tensioner/load limiter
- Driver's seat adjustment
- Speedometer illumation
Additional requirements for heavy goods vehicles, trailers and buses
